Welcome to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra- Balrampur(UP)
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Balrampur is a district level Farm Science Center established by the Narendra Dev University of Agricuture & Technology (NDUAT), Kumarganj, Ayodhya and 100% sponsored by ICAR New Delhi in year 2005. Its area is 15.31 ha and cultivable land is 7.62 ha. The total posts created under Krishi Vigyan Kendra are 16, in which Senior Scientist and Head-1, Subject Matter Specialist-6, Program Assistant-2, Assistant-1, Steno-1, Driver-2 and Field Assistant (Assistant Staff)-2. Seed production, goat rearing, poultry farming, green-fodder, vermi and nadep compost, fisheries demonstration, fish hatchery unit are established at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, in addition to this, hi-tech nursery of fruits and vegetables is also under construction at the center. The purpose of establishment of Krishi Vigyan Kendra is to strengthening the economic conditions of the farmers by increasing the agricultural production of the farmers by evaluating and modifying the latest technology on their fields.
Objectives
1. To evaluate and modify the different area wise cropping system and agricultural techniques.
2. Extension of latest technologies by front line demonstration & on farm Trails at farmers' field.
3. Providing employment oriented training to rural youth.
4. Providing Training on latest technologies to agricultural extension workers of the district.
5. To work as agricultural and technical knowledge center in the district.
Highlights of Work
1. Krishi Vigyan Kendra traines about 3000 farmers on latest technologies every year.
2. Every year, about 200 workers associated with agricultural extension of the district are trained on the latest techniques.
3. Krishi Vigyan Kendra grows improved species of fruits & Vegetable nursery and sold among farmers.
4. Krishi Vigyan Kendra Balrampur producing basic/certified seeds of pulses , oilseed and additional food crops about 200 quintal every year.
5. All scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Balrampur provides 24 hours advisory services to the farmers. In which more than 100 farmers takes advice every month.
6. Time to time, farmer comes at Krishi Vigyan Kendra with their Agricultural problems for diagnosis.
7. There are more than 300 such progressive farmers in the district who always in contact with the scientists of the center and they do farming through the latest techniques of agriculture.
8. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra organizes Cluster demonstrations to promote the production of pulses and oilseed crops.
9. Krishi Vigyan Kendra demonstrates various vegetable crops i.e. Tomato, Bottle gourd, Brinjal & Chili etc. to promoting vegetable production in the district
10. Various awareness programs organized Like importance of soil health improvement and soil testing, Crop Residue Management etc . Simultaneously, adoption of organic farming and use of green manure, earthworm manure and Nadep manure in agriculture Field .
11. Programs under Live stock farming The KVK promotes goat rearing of Barbari breed and upgradation of indigenous goats by Barbari Buck.
12. KVK populerises the composite & itegrated fish Farming techniques among farmers in District Balrampur .
13. Under Tribal Sub Plan KVK playes an important role to enhancing the socio echonomics of tribals & Reduce their Migration through Skil Training, Demonstrations & distribution of Farm Implements.
